چکیده

Forty Pasteurella multocida strains of serotype B:2,5 were collected from cattle affected with haemorrhagic septicaemia, and 72 strains mainly of serotype A:3, were isolated from calves with changes typical of bronchopneumonia. The outer membrane proteins (OMPs) were prepared by extraction, with 1% sarcosyl from field strains and two reference strains. OMPs were separated electrophoretically at a 10% gradient on polyacrylamide gel in SDS-PAGE. The densitograms of the examined strains were compared. The densitometric analysis showed some qualitative and quantitative differences in the protein electrophoretic profiles of the isolates. The most important differences in molecular weights and optical density of protein bands were noted in the 30 kDa to 38 kDa range. Strains isolated from adult cattle and calves were classified into two and four OMPs types, respectively.

Serotype B of Pasteurella multocida is a major agent of haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS), a form of blood poisoning widespread in cattle and buffalo from Southern Asia. The vaccines currently used against the disease are not potent enough, being effective only for a limited duration only. In an attempt to identify immunogenic components of P. multocida for use as live/subunit vaccines, the outer m...

Development of OMP based indirect ELISA to gauge the antibody titers in bovines against Pasteurella multocida

Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida) is an important pathogen of various domestic animals. The outer membrane proteins (OMPs) play a major role in pathogenesis and immunogenicity of P. multocida. The aim of the study was to develop indirect enzyme linked immuno sorbant assay (ELISA) based on OMPs to ascertain the antibody titers in animals post-infection or to gauge the potency of vaccine. The ...

Prevalence of different OmpH-types among Pasteurella multocida isolated from lungs of calves with respiratory problems.

Pasteurella multocida is among the most important respiratory pathogens of cattle. Outer-membrane protein (OmpH) constitutes an essential bacterial antigen and is well studied in avian bacterial strains. Studies on isolates from cattle with signs of respiratory disease caused by Pasteurella multocida serotypes A and D have not yet been covered in the literature. The objective of this study was ...
